With over 25 years of experience, Scott Calandra is a seasoned drummer, producer, and educator who has studied with top drummers and industry pros. As the founder of DrumWorks Lesson Studio, he has built a top-rated drum program, offering personalized virtual drum lessons for all skill levels—from beginners to touring pros. He teaches a wide range of styles, including rock, pop, jazz, Latin, hip-hop, metal, R&B, and country, while also incorporating electronics, production, performance techniques, and the discipline needed for success.

Scott is the son of Richard Calandra, an award-winning producer known for his work with the jazz fusion group Spyro Gyra and the development of Bear Tracks Studios in Suffern, NY. Growing up around world-class musicians and being able to witness the behind the scenes of the music industry fueled Scott’s passion for drumming and music production.

Forging his own path in the industry, Scott has developed long-standing relationships with recording engineers, audio gear manufacturers, and top retail providers, ensuring his students receive real-world insights beyond just playing. His deep knowledge of the industry comes from years of hands-on experience—whether behind the drums, in the studio, or working closely with drumming innovators. As musical director and drumming DJ for the entertainment program Big Heads & Beats, he has brought his unique fusion of technology and music to virtual and live event corporate clients like Live Nation, Google, and Amazon streaming his performances around the globe. As the drummer and producer for the pop/rock duo BREAKERBOX, he has shared the stage with some of Rock music’s biggest names, recorded at Tommy Lee’s Atrium Studios and self-produced projects that gained viral success. Through his DIY approach, Scott has navigated the music business on his own terms, growing a successful career in drumming, education, and production—all while staying dedicated to mentoring the next generation of musicians.
